Scholarships 360
500 Club Scholarship

  • Must be enrolled in the Culinary Arts or Bakery & Pastry Arts program.
  • Must be in good academic standing.
  • Must be enrolled in a study abroad program.



ACE Scholarship

  • Must be enrolled in an Industrial Technology program.
  • Preference for students enrolled in Architecture, Construction and Engineering courses.
  • Must have a minimum 2.5 grade point average.
  • Must have attended classes at any of the Linn County Kirkwood facilities.



ACT Endowed Scholarship Program at Kirkwood Community College

  • Preference given to students wtih strong and demonstrated record of academic achievement.
  • Must be pursuing an A.A. or A.S. degree with career interest in Science (Biology, Biotechnology, Chemistry, Environmental Science, or Physics); Technology (Computer Science, Computer Software Development); Engineering, Mathematics, Business, Communications/Media/Public Relations, Early Childhood Education, English, Liberal Arts (with an emphasis in STEM), Paralegal, Psychology, Sociology, or Pre-professional STEM programs ie: nursing, health wellness.
  • Preference given to students representing broadly diverse backgrounds, such as: economic, diversity, including single parents; diversity of experience, including international, multicultural, LGBT, and other diverse backgrounds; disability, ethnic diversity; and diversity of culture and thought.
  • Recipients must participate in at least one volunteer activity during the year on behalf of ACT.
  • Recipients must reapply for second year of funding.



ADM Endowed Scholarship

  • Must be enrolled in Agriculture Business, Agriculture Production Management or pursuing an A.S. degree with career interest in agriculture.
  • Must be a second-year student with preference given to a full-time student.
  • Must have a minimum 3.0 grade point average.
  • Preference given to student who demonstrates financial need.



Administrative Assistant Scholarship

  • Must be currently enrolled in Administrative Assistant.
  • Award will be applied to spring semester.



AGC of Iowa Construction Management Scholarship

  • Must be enrolled in Construction Management.
  • Must plan to pursue a career in highway, bridge or municipal and utility construction.
  • Preference given to a student who plans to stay in Iowa to work.
  • Preference given to a student who has participated in extra-curricular activities and summer internships.
  • Must demonstrate financial need.



Agricultural Sciences Scholarship

  • Must be enrolled in Agricultural Sciences or pursuing an A.S. degree with career interest in agriculture.
  • Must be a returning Kirkwood student.
  • Must have a minimum 3.0 grade point average.
  • Must indicate participation in community, high school or college activities or organizations.



Allied Health Scholarship

  • Must be enrolled in an Allied Health program.



Alumni Scholarship

  •  



Ambassador Scholarship

  • Must serve as a Kirkwood Community College ambassador.
  • Must demonstrate a high level of participation and commitment.



American Legion of Iowa Foundation Scholarship

  • Must be a veteran, or the spouse of or dependent child of a United States veteran.
  • Must demonstrate financial need.



Animal Health Endowed Scholarship

  • Must be enrolled in animal health program with emphasis on small, domestic animals.



Ann Woodward Nursing Scholarship

  • Award to first-year and second-year students in Practical Nursing or Associate Degree Nursing.
  • Must have a minimum 2.5 grade point average.
  • Must demonstrate financial need.



Anne Duffy Endowed Scholarship

  • Must be enrolled in Veterinary Assistant or Veterinary Technician program.
  • Must have a minimum 2.5 grade point average.
  • Preference will be given to a non-traditional student.
  • Must demonstrate financial need.



Anne M Konrardy Memorial Scholarship

  • Must be enrolled in Veterinary Technician.
  • Must have a minimum 2.5 grade point average.
  • Must demonstrate financial need.



Anthony M. Nixon Memorial Endowed Scholarship

  • Award to student(s) coping with a mental illness with preference given to those suffering from depression, anxiety, or panic attacks.
  • Must be a second-year student.
  • Must be enrolled full-time.
  • Must be a resident of Iowa.
  • Preference given to student attending classes at the Iowa City campus.



Apparel Merchandising Scholarship

  • Must be enrolled in Apparel Merchandising with strong interest in apparel merchandising career.
  • Must have a minimum 2.5 grade point average.
  • Must demonstrate financial need.



Area of Greatest Need Scholarship

  • Must have a minimum 2.0 grade point average.
  • Must demonstrate financial need.



Arts & Humanities Scholarship

  • Must be a second-year student.
  • Must have completed a minimum of nine credit hours of Arts and Humanities courses.
  • Must have a minimum 3.0 grade point average.



ASQ State University of Iowa Section Endowed Scholarship in honor of Vern Mackenzie

  • Must be a second year student enrolled in a STEM-focused program.
  • Must be a resident of Iowa, Illinois, Wisconsin, Missouri, Nebraska, or South Dakota.



Athletics

  • Must have a minimum 2.0 grade point average.
  • Must be a participant in one of Kirkwood’s athletic programs.



B.A. and Margaret Ann Jensen Endowed Scholarship

  • Must have a minimum 2.5 grade point average.
  • Must be a resident of Iowa.
  • Preference given to students enrolled in Masonry Construction, Construction Management, Practical Nursing, Associate Degree Nursing or pursuing an A.S. degree with career interest in nursing.
  • Preference given to a returning adult student who is attending Kirkwood to enhance or develop career goals.
  • Must demonstrate financial need



B.W. Carpenter Memorial Endowed Scholarship

  • Must be a graduate of Marion High School.
  • Must be enrolled full-time.
  • Must have a minimum 2.5 grade point average.
  • Must demonstrate financial need.



Ballantyne Memorial Endowed Scholarship

  • Must be enrolled full-time.
  • Must be a second-year student.
  • Must have a minimum 2.5 grade point average.



Bank of The West Scholarship

  • Must be attending classes at the Linn County Regional Center.
  • Must have completed the College Prep courses and enrolled in developmental course work including basic writing, essential reading, basic math and academic prep.
  • Available to students with an income level that is at least 80% below the median household income.



Bankers Trust Scholarship

  • Must have a minimum 2.5 grade point average.
  • Must be enrolled in Accounting, Business Administration, Financial Services or pursuing an A.A. degree in business.
  • Must demonstrate financial need.



BankIowa Scholarship

  • Must be a resident of Benton, Cedar, Iowa, Johnson, Jones, Linn or Washington County.
  • Must have a minimum 3.5 grade point average.
  • Available to students with an income level that is at least 80% below the median household income.



Barbara Ann Francis Young Endowed Scholarship

  • Must have a minimum 2.5 grade point average.
  • Preference given to women who are at risk and have had physical, emotional and financial challenges to overcome in achieving their goals.
  • Preference also given to women who were out of the workplace and need significant retraining in order to improve their job skills .
  • Must demonstrate financial need.



Basil Hadjis Memorial Scholarship

Must be a second-year student, enrolled in the Culinary Arts program.
Must be currently working in the industry.
Must demonstrate leadership skills and good character.
Must demonstrate community involvement within or outside of Kirkwood.
Must have a minimum 2.0 grade point average.


Behavioral Health Professional Scholarship

  • Must be interested in pursuing a career in the field of behavorial health (such as human services, social work, mental health, or addictions)
  • Must have a minimum 2.5 grade point average



Ben and Nina Smith Endowed Scholarship

  • Must be a permanent resident of Benton County.
  • Preference given to graduates of Benton Community School District or the Vinton Community School District.
  • Must be enrolled at either the Vinton Center or at the main campus.
  • Must have a minimum 2.5 grade point average.
  • Must demonstrate financial need.



Benton County Scholarship

  • Must be enrolled at the Kirkwood Benton County Center.
  • Must have a minimum 2.0 grade point average.
  • Must be enrolled at least six credit hours during the semester of the award.



Bernard J. & Catherine H. Campion Endowed Scholarship

  • Must be a recent high school graduate with preference given to Regina High School or other Catholic high school graduates in Iowa.
  • Must have a minimum 2.0 grade point average.
  • Must demonstrate a focus in vocational training, a commitment to their program, a desire to continue education, and a willingness to work in the chosen career path.



Bernie & Dee Rehnstrom Endowed Scholarship

  • Must be enrolled in either Accounting or Business Management program.
  • Must have a minimum 2.75 GPA.
  • Must demonstrate financial need as documented by the FAFSA.



Bert & Suzanne Katz Endowed Scholarship

  • Preference given to an employee of the city of Marion or to a family member of a Marion city employee.
  • Consideration also given to students not affiliated with the city of Marion who are enrolled full- or part-time in any credit program at Kirkwood, but award will then be based on demonstrated financial need.
  • Must have a minimum 2.5 grade point average.



Bert & Suzanne Katz Endowed Scholarship for Nursing and Allied Health

  • Must be enrolled in a nursing or allied health program.
  • Must have a minimum 2.5 grade point average.
  • Preference to those who demonstrate financial need.



Betty Winokur Endowed Scholarship

  • Must be a resident of Benton, Cedar, Iowa, Jones, Johnson, Linn or Washington County.
  • Must have a minimum 3.0 grade point average.
  • Must demonstrate financial need.



Billy Sanders Memorial Endowed Scholarship

  • Must be enrolled full-time with preference given to the spouse or child of a current employee of International Paper.
  • Must have a minimum 2.5 grade point average.
  • Preference given if you have overcome barriers, divorce, loss of job, etc. to achieve your educational goals.
  • Must demonstrate financial need.



Bimm Ridder Sportswear Scholarship

  • Must have a minimum 2.0 grade point average.
  • Must demonstrate financial need.



Bob and Joye Davidson Endowed Scholarship

  • Must be a resident of Iowa.
  • No minimum grade point average required, but it will be considered.
  • Must demonstrate financial need.



Bradley & Riley Information Technology Scholarship

  • Must be enrolled in Computer Information Systems, Computer Support Specialist or Local Area Network (LAN) Management.
  • Must be committed to work in Linn, Johnson or Polk County after graduation.



Bradley & Riley Legal Paralegal Scholarship

  • Must be enrolled in Paralegal.
  • Must be committed to work in Linn, Johnson or Polk County after graduation.



Bradley & Riley PC Endowed Scholarship

  • Must be enrolled in Computer Software Development, Computer Support Specialist or Network and System Administration.
  • Must be committed to work in Linn, Johnson or Polk County after graduation.



Bud Curran Memorial Scholarship

  • Must be enrolled in Golf Course/Athletic Turfgrass Management.



Business & Information Technology Scholarship

  • Must be enrolled in a Business and Information Technology program.



Campbell F. and Doris J. Watts Endowed Scholarship

  • Must be a full-time student.
  • Must have a minimum 2.5 grade point average.
  • Preference given to students in Practical Nursing, Associate Degree Nursing or pursuing an A.S. degree with career interest in nursing.
  • Must demonstrate financial need.



Carl and Doris McClain Family Endowed Scholarship

  • Must have a minimum 2.5 grade point average.
  • Preference given to student who is a single parent or from a single-parent home.
  • Must demonstrate financial need.



Carol J. Carpenter Memorial Endowed Scholarship

  • Must have a minimum 2.5 grade point average.
  • Must be enrolled in Education Careers.
  • Must demonstrate financial need.



Carol Wohlleben Culinary Study Abroad Scholarship

  • Must be enrolled in the culinary program and participating in study abroad.
  • Must submit two letters of recommendation that show your dedication to expanding your knowledge and experience in the culinary arts field.
  • Must have a minimum 2.5 grade point average.
  • Must demonstrate financial need.
  • Must be enrolled the semester prior to the study abroad trip.



Catherine H. Campion Memorial Endowed Scholarship for Women

  • Must be enrolled in a business program.
  • Must be a female student over 20 years of age.
  • Must have a minimum 2.0 grade point average.
  • Must demonstrate a focus in vocational training, a commitment to their program, a desire to continue education, and willingness to work in chosen career path.



Cedar Rapids Area Transportation Club Scholarship

  • Must be enrolled in the Truck Driving Program.
  • Must live in Linn County.
  • Preference given to a student with financial need.
  • Preference given to a non-traditional student or under-represented group.



Cedar Rapids Bank & Trust Company Scholarship

  • Must be enrolled in Financial Services.
  • Award to a student from Linn, Benton, Cedar, Iowa, Johnson, Jones or Washington county.



Cedar Rapids Garden Club Scholarship

  • Must be enrolled in Floral Careers, Landscape Construction and Design, Golf Course/Athletic Turfgrass Management or Parks and Natural Resources.



Cedar Rapids IMA (Institute of Management Accountants) Scholarship

  • Must be enrolled in the Accounting program.
  • Must be a second-year student.
  • Must be native to Iowa.
  • Must have a minimum 3.0 grade point average.
  • Preference given to students who are members of the Accounting Club.



Cedar Rapids Region Antique Automobile Club of America Scholarship

  • Must be enrolled in 12 credit hours or more.
  • Must be enrolled in Automotive Technology or Automotive Collision Repair.
  • Preference given to a student with a 3.0 grade point average or higher.
  • Must be a resident of Linn, Benton, Iowa, Cedar, Johnson, Jones or Washington County.
  • Must be willing to attend and speak at a CRRAACA meeting.
  • Recipient will receive a free membership to the club.



Cedar Rapids Softball Hall of Fame Scholarship

  • Must be a first-year student of Kirkwood’s softball team.
  • Must have a minimum 2.5 grade point average.
  • Must be a graduate of a Cedar Rapids area metro high school.
  • Preference given to a student with financial need.



Cedar Rapids Truck Center Endowed Scholarship

  • Must have a minimum 2.5 grade point average.
  • Must be enrolled in either Diesel Truck Technology or Automotive Technology with preference given to employees of Cedar Rapids Truck Center.
  • Must demonstrate financial need.



Centro, Inc. Endowed Scholarship

  • Must be a full-time student.
  • Must be enrolled in Industrial Maintenance & HVAC Technology, CNC Machining Technology or CAD/Mechanical Engineering Technology.
  • Must have a minimum 2.5 grade point average.
  • Preference given to applicant who has an immediate family member employed at Centro, Inc.
  • Preference given to applicants who demonstrate financial need.



Chad Skogman Memorial Endowed Scholarship

  • Preference given to minority students.
  • Must have a minimum 2.5 grade point average.
  • Must demonstrate financial need.



Cheerleading Leadership Scholarship

  • Must be a member of the Kirkwood Cheerleading Squad.
  • Must demonstrate strong leadership skills both on and off the team.
  • Must have a minimum 2.5 grade point average.



Cheryle and Frank Mitvalsky Endowed Scholarship

  • Must have a minimum 2.0 grade point average.
  • Must be enrolled as a full-time student in Education Careers.
  • Must demonstrate financial need.



Cheryle Watts Mitvalsky Endowed Scholarship

  • Must have a minimum 2.5 grade point average.
  • Preference given to students who indicate and represent leadership skills within their community.
  • Must demonstrate financial need.



Children of Local 125 Plumbers & Pipe Fitters Scholarship

  • These scholarships are available to children of members of U.A. Local 125 Plumbers and Pipefitters.
  • Must have a minimum 2.0 grade point average.
  • Must be a son or daughter of a union member, and indicate the members name.



Chris and Suzy DeWolf Family Business Scholarship

  • Must be enrolled in a Business & Information Technology program.
  • Must have a minimum 2.5 grade point average.
  • Must demonstrate financial need.
  • Must be a graduate of a high school in Linn County, Iowa, with preference for Cedar Rapids Community School District graduates.



Chris and Suzy DeWolf Family Fine Arts Scholarship

  • Must be pursuing an A.A. degree with career interest in art, music or theatre.
  • Must have a minimum 2.5 grade point average.
  • Must demonstrate financial need.
  • Must be a graduate of a high school in Linn County, Iowa, with preference for Cedar Rapids Community School District graduates.



Chris and Suzy DeWolf Family Scholarship for Big Brothers Big Sisters

  • Must be recommended by Big Brothers Big Sisters of Cedar Rapids and East Central Iowa.
  • Must have a minimum 2.0 grade point average.
  • Must demonstrate financial need.
  • Must be a graduate of a high school in Linn County, Iowa, with preference for Cedar Rapids Community School District graduates.



Chris and Suzy DeWolf Family Study Abroad Scholarship

  • Must complete a study abroad application.
  • Must submit two faculty recommendation forms.
  • Must have a minimum 2.5 grade point average.
  • Must demonstrate financial need.
  • Must be a full-time Kirkwood student status or degree-seeking part-time student.
  • Must be enrolled the semester prior to the program dates.
  • Alumni are not eligible for scholarships unless the program falls immediately after the last term that person was enrolled at Kirkwood. Must be a graduate of a high school in Linn County, Iowa, with preference for Cedar Rapids Community School District graduates.



CIVCO Medical Solutions Scholarship

  • Must be enrolled in CNC Machining Technology or Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Technologies.
  • Preference to second-year student with a minimum of 2.5 grade point average.
  • Preference to students who reside in Henry, Washington or Johnson County.



Collins Community Credit Union Endowed Scholarship

  • Must be enrolled in Accounting, Business Administration, or Financial Services program.
  • Must be a member of the Collins Community Credit Union.



Conrad Gregg Scholarship

  • Must be a first-year student for initial award.
  • Preference given to resident of Muscatine County.
  • If continuing as a student, you must reapply to receive an additional award for second year of study.
  • Must demonstrate financial need.



Corn Country Cruisers Scholarship

  • Must be enrolled in Automotive Technology or Automotive Collison Repair.
  • Must have a minimum 2.5 grade point average.
  • Must be a graduate of Highland, Keota, Mid-Prairie, Waco, or Washington High School.



Craig E. Thomas Memorial Endowed Scholarship

  • Must have a minimum 2.75 grade point average.
  • Must be enrolled in Industrial Technologies with preference given to students enrolled in Automotive Technology or Automotive Collision Repair.
  • Preference given to an adult student age 30 or over.



CRST International Endowed Scholarship

CRST International Paul Shawver Memorial Endowed Scholarship

  • Must have a minimum 2.5 grade point average.
  • Must be enrolled in a two-year degree program with the intention of completing a four-year degree.
  • Must demonstrate financial need.



Dale K. Lumpa Memorial Endowed Scholarship

  • Must be a graduate of West Branch High School.
  • Must have a minimum 2.0 grade point average.



Dale Simon Endowed Scholarship

  • Must be enrolled and attending classes at Kirkwood's Iowa City campus.
  • Must have completed 12 credit hours.
  • Must have a minimum 2.5 grade point average.
  • Must demonstrate financial need.



David and Ann Bunting Endowed Scholarship

  • Must be a resident of Iowa.
  • Must have a minimum 2.5 grade point average.
  • Must be a graduate of Kirkwood’s Adult High School, GED program or Kirkwood’s Alternative High School and reference this in summary.
  • Must demonstrate financial need.



David Braverman Employee Endowed Scholarship

  • Must be enrolled in Culinary Arts.



David E. Cuckler Endowed Scholarship

  • Must be a graduate of Monticello High School.
  • Must be enrolled in a career program.
  • Must have a minimum 2.0 grade point average.



David H. Jensen Memorial Endowed Scholarship

  • Must be an Iowa resident from Benton, Cedar, Iowa, Johnson, Jones, Linn or Washington County.
  • Preference given to a returning adult student who is attending Kirkwood to enhance or develop career goals.
  • Must have successfully completed one semester at Kirkwood.
  • Must have a minimum 2.5 grade point average.
  • Must be enrolled in Agricultural Sciences, Allied Health, Business and Information Technology, Industrial Technologies, Hospitality Arts or Nursing.
  • Must demonstrate financial need.



David John Dillman Memorial Endowed Scholarship

  • Must be enrolled in Electronics Engineering Technology program.
  • Must have a minimum 2.5 grade point average in the first year to be eligible for consideration of a second-year award.
  • Recipients must reapply for one additional year of support.
  • Must be a resident of Iowa with preference given to applicants from central Iowa and priority given to applicants from East Marshall.
  • Preference given to students who demonstrate financial need.



David Keller Scholarship

  • Must be a resident of Kirkwood's seven county service area.
  • Must demonstrate financial need outside Pell eligibility.
  • Must be enrolled in an Allied Health, Nursing, or Industrial Technologies degree program.
  • Must have a minimum 2.8 grade point average.
  • Preference given to a single parent supporting young children.
  • Preference to fund same recipient for up to 3 years to finish the selected program.



David R. Goodwin Mt Hermon Lodge Law Enforcement Scholarship

  • Must be a U.S. citizen who graduated from a Linn County high school.
  • Must have completed one semester in Criminal Justice.
  • Must have a minimum 3.0 grade point average.



Dawn & Joel Thys Endowed Scholarship

  • Must be a graduate of HLV, Iowa Valley, Belle Plaine, Benton Community or Vinton school districts.
  • If awarded to a part-time student, he/she must have successfully completed two semesters with a minimum 2.5 GPA.



Dean A. Dunlap Endowed Scholarship

  • Must have a minimum 2.5 grade point average.
  • Must be a resident of Iowa.
  • Must be enrolled for a minimum of nine hours in Accounting.



Deborah Marie Matthes Memorial Endowed Scholarship

  • Must be enrolled in Associate Degree Nursing.
  • Preference given to residents of Linn or Johnson County.
  • Must have a minimum 2.5 grade point average.
  • Must be 25 years of age or older.
  • Must have work experience in health care.



Design Engineers

  • Must be a resident of Iowa.
  • Must have a minimum 3.0 grade point average.
  • Must be enrolled in Architectural Technology, CAD/Mechanical Engineering Technology or be pursuing an A.S. degree with career interest in engineering.



Diamond V Scholarship

  • Must be a full-time student.
  • Must be enrolled in Agriculture Production Management (swine or beef), Horse Science Technology or Veterinary Technician.
  • Must have a minimum 2.5 grade point average.
  • Must demonstrate financial need.



Don and Phyllis Canfield Endowed Scholarship

  • Must have a minimum 2.5 grade point average.
  • Must demonstrate financial need.



Donald and Miriam Bergman Endowed Scholarship

  • Preference given to veteran(s) and/or student(s) enrolled in education careers.
  • Preference given to student(s) who have overcome significant hardship and demonstrate an authentic desire to succeed.
  • Must have a minimum 2.5 grade point average.
  • Must demonstrate financial need.



Doren Kuster Memorial Endowed Scholarship

  • Must be pursuing an A.A. degree with career interest in music—with preference given to vocal music student.
  • Must have a minimum high school GPA of 2.0 or college GPA of 2.5.
  • Must maintain a minimum 2.5 grade point average to receive second-year funding.
  • Preference given to student who participated in high school tennis.
  • Must demonstrate financial need.



Dr. David and Joan Thaler Endowed Scholarship

  • Must be enrolled as second-year student in either allied health or Associate Degree Nursing.
  • Must show academic achievement during your first year at Kirkwood with a minimum 3.0 grade point average.
  • Must be a resident of Iowa.
  • Must demonstrate financial need.



Dr. Duane A. Schmidt Endowed Scholarship

  • Must be enrolled in Dental Assisting, Dental Technology or Dental Hygiene. (Must be second-year student in Dental Technology or Dental Hygiene.)
  • Must have a minimum 2.5 grade point average.
  • Must complete a four-hour job shadowing requirement at any dental office.
  • Must be complete a written essay (maximum of two pages) describing what you learned during the job shadowing and how the experience influenced your understanding of dentistry.



Dr. Norman Hansmeyer Endowed Scholarship

  • Must be enrolled in Agricultural Science, Agricultural Geospatial Technology, Agriculture Production Management, or Veterinary Technology program.



Dr. Pat Smith Memorial Endowed Scholarship

  • Must be a second-year student in an Agricultural Sciences program.
  • Must have a minimum 2.0 grade point average.
  • Must demonstrate financial need.



DuPont Scholarship

  • Must be pursuing an A.S. degree with career interest in biotechnology or biology.

  • Must be a United States veteran who has served active duty in a combat zone.

  • Must be a student in a career program.

Visual & Performing Arts Scholarship

  • Must maintain at least eight semester hours, including at least one course in a subject other than music, theatre or art.
  • An initial audition and/or portfolio review is required.
  • Applications are screened each term to determine continuing eligibility.
  • Fine and Performing Arts scholarships are awarded to students pursuing an A.A. degree with career interest in music or theatre as well as those pursuing degrees with other academic interests.
  • Must maintain a minimum 2.5 grade point average.
  • Must actively contribute to the music, theatre and/or art programs, including enrollment in ensembles and/or productions.
